Trigger Causes a Request Instruction message to be sent to the processor application when a specified event is received by the subsystem.
Host-based routing is accomplished by using the Trigger request for a specified resource on the switch. Applications can trigger an action when the switch encounters a specified event. That is, the switch is requested to perform a specified action on meeting a specified event.
A Request Instruction message is sent to the application requesting information on how the switch should route the telephone call. An application that is routing phone calls based on ISDN network information is an example of the first type of trigger.
When a call comes into an ACD group pilot number or another resource, information such as CLID or DNIS can be used to determine to where the telephone call should be directed. The application should have a trigger on the pilot number or resource for the Call Routed event.
After receiving the Request Instruction message, the application uses the API request Redirect Call to route the phone call to the appropriate party. Telephone calls are routed by processor applications or switch hardware.
