Don't turn the thermostat to the coldest setting to make your air conditioner cool faster. It won't. All you are doing is changing the final 'off' temperature.

It won't change the speed at which the air conditioner operates. Setting the thermostat colder won't make the room cool any faster.
Just set the dial to the temperature that you want and let the air conditioner do its job. Setting the thermostat colder forces the air conditioner to over-cool the room which only wastes energy.
