Tip:

Wet Your Dishwasher Pump Seals

Dishwasher pump seals should always run wet.

If you allow the seals to dry out or forget to get them wet before you turn on your dishwasher for the first time, you risk damaging the seals.

Bad seals will allow dirty dish-water to flow out of the bottom of the dishwasher. Water will get into the pump motor and eventually find its way onto the floor under your counters.

Did you take your dishwasher out or turn it over to do some repair work on it? Did you just install a new dishwasher? Is this the first time in a few weeks that you have operated your dishwasher?

Do yourself a favor and toss two cups of water in the dishwasher before you close the door and flip the switch.  It doesn't cost a cent and could prevent hundreds of dollars in damage.
