After installing a new pump or repairing an existing one, don't be alarmed if, at first, you see the amperage reading that is slightly too high. Pump seals need to 'run in'.
Do this:
First, check to see that all valves are open correctly.
Then, do nothing. Wait a few minutes and check amperage again.
You could easily see a 15% to 20% drop in amperage draw in the first 1/2 hour of operation due to bearings and pump seals 'running in'.
