Tip:

High Pump Amps ?

After installing a new pump or repairing an existing one, don't be alarmed if, at first, you see the amperage reading that is slightly high. Pump seals need to 'run in'.

Do this:

First, double-check your work. Be sure the shaft couplings are aligned and that all valves are open correctly.

If everything is OK, start the pump again and wait a minute or two to check amperage again.

You could easily see a 15% to 20% drop in amperage draw in the first minutes of operation due to bearings and pump seals 'running in'.
